The sun protection factor - SPF

The sun protection factor (SPF) of a sunscreen is a crucial factor in protecting your skin from the harmful effects of UV radiation. The SPF indicates how much longer you can stay in the sun with the sunscreen applied without risking sunburn, compared to unprotected skin. A higher (SPF) therefore offers stronger protection and is particularly important for intense sun exposure or sensitive skin. However, it is important to note that SPF is only part of the protection - regular reapplication, especially after swimming or sweating, is essential to maintain protection and keep skin healthy in the long term.

Difference between chemical and mineral sunscreen

Chemical sunscreen penetrates the skin and absorbs UV rays, converting them into heat and wicking them away. It is often lighter on the skin and does not leave a white film.

Mineral sunscreen (physical) sits on the surface of the skin and reflects UV rays like a protective shield. It works immediately after application and is ideal for sensitive skin, but can leave a slight white film.
